The Stanbury Walker is a traditional, ribbed, ankle length sock with a cushion sole. The socks are made from from fleeces of the North Devon Exmoor Bluefaced sheep which is a Exmoor Horn/Bluefaced Leicester crossbreed. British wool is an excellent fibre for socks as its ability to absorb moisture keeps feet warm and dry. The Stanbury Walker is named after the local Lynton farmer, John Stanbury, who breeds the very sheep that supply the wool.
The socks are knitted by a traditional, family run sock manufacturer in the UK Midlands. The yarn from which they are knitted was spun for us in by John Arbon at the Fibre Harvest mill in North Devon. Now John has retired, it is spun at another mill in the UK using the same blend of fibres.
The Stanbury Walker is a a comfortable walking sock for both men and women. There are three unisex sizes, small (UK shoe size 4-7), medium (8-10) and large (11-13). For EU Shoe Sizes and foot sizes, please see the Sizing Guide on the product page.
Each colourway has a contrast top band. The colours are Dark Gold, Madder Red, Rose and a mid green.
Composition: 60% Exmoor Blueface wool / 25% other British wools / 15% Nylon. The nylon content provides enough stretch to give a good fit.
I use natural fibres, so please remember to read the care information.
